Anna receives endorsement from Former HISD Trustee District 1 Candidate Linda Toyota

HOUSTON – Anna Eastman today received the endorsement of her former opponent, Linda Toyota in the HISD Trustee, District 1 race.

“It is important to have HISD Board members who are open minded and committed to continuing to move the District forward,” said  Toyota. “Two-way communication with diverse constituents in the District, insuring accountabilities are in place, and board governance through meaningful policies, continues to be important to me. It is for these reasons I have decided to support Anna Eastman for our District I school board trustee.” She continued, “Your vote for Anna Eastman will insure that our schools will continue to improve and teachers can be recognized for their accomplishments.”

“Linda Toyota demonstrates a commitment to education and the children of Houston as evidenced by her campaign, community involvement and work history.  I am proud to have her confidence and endorsement as I enter into this stage of the campaign,” said Eastman.

Anna Eastman has also been endorsed by:

    Houston Chronicle Endorses Anna!

"As the president of the Travis Elementary PTA, Eastman was known for fighting hard for her school, and she's likely to be just as persistent in attacking HISD's dropout rate." - Houston Chronicle, October 18, 2009

    Anna Receives Important Endorsement!

I'm very proud to announce that I'm one of only two school board candidates to receive the endorsement of the Houston Business-Education Coalition PAC (HBEC). HBEC is comprised of 15 of Houston's top business and professional leaders who are vitally interested in the quality of the leadership on the HISD Board. It's an honor to receive a vote of confidence from this amazing group of leaders, and it only makes me want to work harder to help bring the change that I, the HBEC, and all of us who care about our children's education want to see happen.

I’m running for HISD Trustee because I believe passionately in public education.  My husband, Brad, and I send our three children to HISD schools.  Daniel (7) and Abby (9) attend Travis Elementary and our son Ely (12) is a seventh grader at TH Rogers. Brad is an attorney at Cameron, International. I have been active in HISD public schools since moving to Houston 11 years ago  and have worked as a community leader and advocate in my own children’s schools.

The challenges we face in HISD are well-known  to  large, urban school districts.  We have shown that we can be successful in the face of multiple challenges, but we must continue to innovate and to seek the best practices available to ensure success for every single student.    I will work to keep  HISD a leader among our peers and to finally realize that dream of success for all of our children.
